Abstract

The Gini Coefficient is a technique used to measure income distribution since economic growth is a factor in inequality of income, to explore status of local communities’ income distribution the study will be carried out in villages receiving assistance for poverty eradication purpose in Vilabouly district of Savannakhet Province, this study aims to understand the overall family economic situation of the people in Savannakhet province, measure the income difference in each household, and analyze the influencing factors that determine the income of the people in each household. The statistics used for analysis include frequency, average, Gini Coefficient, and Multiple Regression.
The majority of the population in Vilabouly District, Savannakhet Province, according to the research's findings, is male, of Phu-Thai ethnicity, illiterate, and works in sales. In rural areas, Keovilai village has the highest rate of poverty escape, while Faphilang village has the highest rate of poverty. When the poverty standards of people in rural and urban areas are compared, it is evident that the percentage of families with incomes below the standard.
The GINI coefficient indicates that there is a comparatively high level of income inequality among people. After examining the correlation between the variables, it can be observed that there is a relationship between household income and education. The factors that have an influence on people's income include age, experience, quantity of labors, production area, expenditure, and education level.
